Interior painters in Auckland

Start with the rooms you want painted and the parts you’re keeping. We’ll work through the walls, ceilings and woodwork with you, then agree the preparation and finishes before quoting.

If you’ll be living at home during the job, let us know. We can discuss the order of the rooms and what needs clearing before work starts.

Walls only, or the whole room?

A wall repaint and a complete room repaint are different jobs. We spell out which surfaces are included, so you can decide what to do now and what can wait.

Walls & feature walls

Repaint marked walls or change the colour. Tell us about old wallpaper, cracks or previous patches so we can assess what’s underneath.

Ceilings

Check the ceiling when planning the walls. Old stains, peeling areas and visible repairs need assessing before they’re covered.

Doors, frames & skirting

Fresh walls can make worn woodwork more noticeable. Decide whether doors, frames and skirting should be included in the same job.

Kitchens & bathrooms

We discuss coatings for the painted walls and ceilings, taking steam, splashes and regular cleaning into account.

You can enquire about a single room or just the ceilings. The quote can be built around the surfaces you actually want painted.

Choose a finish for the way you use the room

A hallway wall needs to cope with different wear from a spare bedroom ceiling. We help you choose paint for the surface and the way the room is used.

Walls you need to wipe down
A suitable washable finish is useful in living areas and busy hallways. Low sheen is a common starting point.
Ceilings and reflected light
Flat or very low-sheen paint is commonly chosen for ceilings to reduce reflections and make small imperfections less noticeable.
Doors and woodwork
A suitable enamel coating helps doors, frames and trims stand up to handling and cleaning.

Try colour samples beside your flooring, curtains and cabinetry. Check them in daylight and with the room’s lights on before choosing.

Preparation is part of the job

A fresh colour can still show a rough patch or a loose paint edge. We assess the walls and woodwork before deciding what preparation to include.

Clean and check the surfaces
Dust, grease and loose paint need attention before coating. We check the existing coating before choosing the preparation.
Work through the repairs
Minor filling and preparation can be included in the quote. Larger plaster repairs or wallpaper removal need to be identified separately.
Prime where the surface needs it
Bare areas, repaired patches and some existing coatings need an appropriate primer or sealer before the finishing coats.

A recurring stain or damp patch needs its cause addressed before repainting. Tell us about it when we look at the room.

Plan around the rooms you still need

If you’re staying at home, the order of the work matters. Tell us which bedroom, bathroom or living area needs to remain available, and any moving dates or other trades we need to consider.

  1. Settle the scope

Agree the rooms, surfaces, colours and finish. We discuss preparation, access and your preferred timing before confirming the work.

  2. Clear and protect the work area

Agree who moves larger furniture, clear small items and protect nearby surfaces. Carry out the quoted preparation before painting.

  3. Paint in the agreed order

Work through the rooms and surfaces as planned, allowing the required time between coats. Any work outside the scope is discussed with you.

  4. Check the rooms and talk through aftercare

Review the painted surfaces and tidy the area. We explain the care instructions for the chosen paint, including when it can be cleaned.

How much does interior painting cost in Auckland?

Interior painting costs depend on the surfaces included, their condition and the preparation needed. Walls only will be a different quote from walls, ceilings, doors and trims together.

A room with a sound painted surface needs different work from one with wallpaper to remove, a high stairwell or repairs to finish. We check those details before putting a scope around the price.

When you compare quotes, check the preparation, painted surfaces, access costs and GST. Those details tell you whether you’re comparing the same work.

What affects the price?

Rooms and painted area
The walls, ceilings and woodwork included, along with room size and ceiling height.
Existing condition
The amount of cleaning, filling, sanding and priming required.
Colours and finishes
The coating and coverage needed for the surface and the change of colour.
Working access
Furniture, occupied rooms, high areas and the order in which work needs to happen.

Questions before you book

If there’s something specific about your house, call us and talk it through.

0800 118 844
Can you paint one room or just the ceilings?

Yes. We can discuss a single room, ceilings, doors and trims, or a larger interior repaint. Be specific about which surfaces you want included so the quote covers the work you need.

How long does interior painting take?

The number of rooms, preparation, access and drying time determine the schedule. We can discuss the expected sequence and timeframe after assessing the job. Let us know early if the work needs to fit around a moving date or other trades.

Can I stay at home while the rooms are painted?

Often, yes, if the work can be staged and suitable rooms remain available. The arrangement also depends on ventilation and the products being used. Tell us at the quoting stage so we can discuss access and the order of work.

Is plastering or wallpaper removal included?

Only the preparation and repairs described in your quote are included. Tell us about wallpaper and damaged plaster before the quote is agreed. Larger repairs or removal work need to be assessed and clearly identified.

Can you match the colour already on the wall?

Tell us the paint brand, colour and finish if you know them. Existing paint can change with age, so a new patch may still be visible. We can discuss whether repainting the whole wall would give a more even result.

How soon can I clean the new paint?

Follow the care instructions for the selected paint. Touch-dry paint may still be curing and can be marked by early washing or rubbing. We’ll explain the relevant waiting period and cleaning advice for the product used.

Do you help with colours and finishes?

Yes. We can help you narrow down colours and suitable finishes. Tell us about the flooring, curtains, furniture and cabinetry you’re keeping, and test your shortlisted colours in the room before deciding.

Which rooms are you thinking about?

Email your Auckland suburb and the rooms or surfaces you’d like painted. Mention any wallpaper, damage or timing you need us to know about. Photos help us understand the starting point.
